HotRod For The M Summer 2013!

Hot Rod was hard to catch up with. He’s incredibly busy, jet setting, other cities, other countries. That’s what success is all about but we finally got to sit down with him for perhaps our most intimate and revealing interview to date.

We started the promo about a month ago and the reader interest has been INSANE! So here it is; our exclusive interview with the man himself!

1. Who is HotRod? Age, home town, zodiac sign?

I’m 25 years old, born on January 4, 1988. Capricorn

2. What did you wanna grow up to be when you were a little boy?

I have always had multiple interests-too many actually. I’m very talented and I like to think I’m somewhat intelligent. I’ve wanted to be everything from a lawyer to a pastry chef. But ultimately, whatever I settled on, I always wanted to be my own boss. I’m very entrepreneurial.

3. How and when did you decide you wanted to be apart of the porn industry?

I was 19. It was just a curiosity I needed to fulfill. I’m the type of person who needs to live out my fantasies to be satisfied. I didn’t have anything to lose so I went for it. I used to do security and being that there isn’t too much action involved in sitting behind a desk, I decided to fill out an online application. The rest is history.

4. Whose HotRod’s favorite pornstar & why?

I honestly don’t have a favorite. I’ve never been a fan of a particular porn star that I can recall. (Well, there was Baby Boy of Cocodorm who kinda inspired me to work with the company when I first started out.) “Porn Stars” really don’t really excite me now. I don’t even watch myself unless it’s to critique. I have a couple of porn crushes but I can’t recall their names.

5. Lovers, friends; are these relationship difficult to form given your celebrity in the urban and commercial gay communities? Have you had any bad experiences?

Well my closest friends are friends I had around the beginning of all of this. I keep a very small circle. The difficulty is trying to be nice to everyone and everyone in return wants you to be their friend-that’s absolutely impossible. I love my personal time and space and I usually can only handle one very close friend at a time which usually ends up being a boyfriend. It’s not difficult because I know how to navigate and I know who/what works for me. I’m fortunate to have the gift of knowing a good person when i see one so I don’t have any unique, crazy disaster stories or really bad experiences outside of break ups, which suck for anyone.

6. Describe Trappboy in just 3 words.

Wonderful. Beautiful. Amazing.

7. Whats started the beef between you and Trapp? Can it be squashed??

I was never really upset with him. I just had to correct a situation that made its way onto social media. I would never choose to handle a situation publicly-it’s tacky, but I will defend myself if necessary. He had a pretty large following so I felt it was necessary to clear my name. (I had a little time on my hands that day). Whatever “beef” there was ended after I typed the last period in my twitter rant. I don’t have time or energy for unnecessary drama. I never blocked him on any social network and the door to reconciliation has always been open.

8. Looking back on your catalogue, we all have a favorite HotRod scene but what’s yours and why?

I don’t know. I there were a couple of scenes where I was partnered with my “type” and you can see the difference in chemistry and energy. Usually when there’s a skilled bottom as my co-star (i.e Tango, Ignition (Black Rayne), Remy, etc..). I love a good bottom. I like the challenge of bottoming also, so there are a couple of good verse & bottoming scenes that come to mind.

9. Ever caught feelings for a co star? If so, who?

I met my first love, Manny Baby (Cocodorm, FlavaWorks), on set on one of my earlier films years ago. I had another more recently who I also met on set in 2010.

10. Celebrity crush?

There are a few but John Legend and Gabrielle Union top the list right now.

11. You’re one of the most recognizable faces in the urban gay community but loneliness and depression are major issues amongst us, even our public figures. Do you ever struggle with these feelings. How do you get through?

I am pretty good with handling my emotions. I take after my mother, who I may have seen cry twice in my lifetime, so fortunately depression isn’t something I have to deal with. I’m a generally very happy person. I get lonely. I’m single right now and I don’t have many friends, especially where I live but I’m working on my social skills. One of my current projects, #PawPower actually addresses this issue, which is very prevalent in our community. (iamhotrod.blogspot.com)

12. Mother, father, family; how do they feel about HotRod?

Good question.

13. What’s one thing that TURNS YOU ON?

Tattoos. They say a lot about a person.

14. What advice would you give to young boys that look up to you and want to enter the porn industry?

Don’t let that be your aspiration and goal in life-it wasn’t mine and it still isn’t. It was a chapter that I’m glad I experienced. Most people won’t accomplish what I have in this profession honestly. I entered with a different mindset than most people. I say, if you have to ask how to get into the industry, it’s not for you.

15. You have over 25,000 followers on Twitter and a very loyal, devoted fan base. What does that admiration mean to you?

Honestly, at first it didn’t mean much because I didn’t understand it. But after hearing stories as to why I have the following I have, and why people have the respect they have for me, I get it and I appreciate them.

16. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?

Hmmmm…I don’t know if I would change anything. I think that whatever happened in my past is preparing me for the future and I will appreciate what comes that much more because I’ll know the story-the highs and lows, ups and downs of how I got there.

17. The Future of HotRod; what’s next for you?

Entirely too much. I officially quit porn. (I’m only 25 so I don’t use the word retire…unless someone is throwing me a party lol). But I stay very busy. My brain is still racing and is always anticipating the next thing. I wish I could press pause on that creative section of my brain (Left-handed people problems lol). Aside from traveling and performing erotic/strip shows, I am currently focusing on three branding projects which I can’t speak too much on because I’m legalizing some things. But one of my current focuses is philanthropic. I’ve been using the phrase “Paw Power” for a while now and I had a EUREKA! moment recently. But it’s a bit extensive so you can read about it in full on my blog iamhotrod.blogspot.com. There’s much more to come…soon!
